11-DAY TANZANIAN SAFARI ADVENTURES WITH OPTIONAL ZANZIBAR ADD-ON

Come for a fantastic 11 days in Northern Tanzania under the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro, hiking with the giraffe in Arusha National Park, seeing the elephant in Tarangire, on the Great Rift Valley Escarpment, in Ngorongoro Crater, at the site of the first evidence of mankind, and in the vastness that is the Serengeti Plains. It’s African Journey you'll always remember; from a private reserve on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro through the northern wildlife ecosystems the Tarangire River, the culturally rich area of the Great Rift Escarpment, Norongoro Crater, Olduvai Gorge and the wilds of the Serengeti Plains. This safari is designed for active people of any age who are interested in an in-depth group safari experience. The safari’s emphasis is on being close to the land, close to the people and close to the culture, as this is what a true African safari is all about. You can also add five days in Zanzibar after the Serengeti if you desire to enjoy the beaches and incredible culture of the original Spice Island.

The safari will involve accommodations in first-class lodges as well as classic African camping in beautiful, wild and pristine locations. Camping will be in full-size classic African tents with beds, hot showers and sit-down toilets. Our safaris are comfortable, and at times luxurious, but are primarily planned to emphasize the quality and depth of the experience.

 While this is a group-led safari, the itinerary is flexible and has a high degree of personal freedom. The thirteen-day safari will include:

• Three nights’ luxury camping in 11,000-acre private wildlife reserve on the western slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro away from any other tourists.

• Observe herds of elephants from the tree house above the watering hole or on game drives.

• Walk or ride mountain bikes throughout the reserve.

• Spend time at local Massai villages or at a local primary school

• Day trip on Mt. Kilimanjaro to 11,000 ft elevation.

• Optional walking safari in Arusha National Park: Lot’s of giraffe, Cape buffalo, colobus monkeys and other wildlife.

• Game drives in Tarangire National Park: Elephants and Baobob trees galore. 

• Lodging at the Tarangire Safari Lodge, a permanent tented lodge overlooking the Tarangire River

• Cultural walks near Lake Manyara and lodging on top of the Great Rift Valley Escarpment at the beautiful Kirurumu Tented Lodge.

• Game drives and picnic in Ngorongoro Crater. Stay at the luxurious Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge on the Crater rim.

• Visit Olduvai Gorge, the birthplace of humans.

• Three days and nights in Serengeti National Park

• Classic camping in Seronera, the heart of the Serengeti.

• Game drives throughout the Serengeti. All the things you can expect from one of the world’s most famous parks.

• Fly out of the Serengeti to Arusha for return flight home, continue with an optional 5-day trip to Zanzibar Island, or arrange to stay for a while longer.

The safari cost is $3,490.00 per person for 11-days. These are eleven days on the ground, on safari. We do not include the days you are traveling on the airlines.  Except for international airfare, just about everything else is included – meals, transport, lodging, camping parks fees, guides, even tips!  Our safaris are based on years of personal experience leading safari groups in Tanzania, and we arrange our safaris directly with the best local providers. Therefore, our safaris cost much less than other safaris without compromising quality.
