14-Night Safari   A 14-day African Journey from the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro through the northern wildlife ecosystems of Serengeti, Ngorongoro and others, with an optional 5-night trip to the tropical beaches of Zanzibar Island. This safari is designed for active people of any age who is interested in a unique group safari experience. The safari’s emphasis is on being close to the land, close to the people and close to the culture, as this is what a true African safari is all about. The safari will involve accommodations in first-class lodges (8 nights) as well as classic African camping (6 nights) in beautiful, wild and pristine locations. Camping will be in full-size classic African tents with beds, hot showers and sit-down toilets. Our safaris are comfortable, and at times luxurious, but are primarily planned to emphasize the quality and depth of the experience.   May 30    Noon arrival. Introductions and relaxing. Lodging at private compound   June 1     Early morning departure to Arusha National Park for all day walking safari. Lodging at private compound.   June 2     Visit to Arusha and continue to private reserve on west side of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Classic camping at Ndarakwai Private Reserve.   June 3     Game drives, walking safaris, game observation from tree house. Camping at Reserve.   June 4.    Game drives or day trip up to 11,000 ft on Mt. Kilimanjaro. Camping at Reserve.   June 5     Break camp and journey Great Rift Escarpment. Lodging at elegant Kirurumu Lodge.   June 6     All day game drive at Tarangire National Park. Return to Kirurumu Lodge.   June 7     Free day for cultural walks, visits to villages, shopping, mountain biking, canoeing, or horseback riding. Lodging at Kirurumu Lodge.   June 8     Depart to Ngorongoro for all day game drive throughout the Crater. Lodging at luxurious Serena Lodge.   June 9     Early morning game drive and head across Serengeti Plains. Classic camping in Seronera, the heart of Serengeti.   June 10   Game drives and exploring in Serengeti. Return to camp for the night.   June 11    Game drives and further exploration. Return to camp for the night.   June 12   Morning relaxation or game drives. Midday flight from Serengeti to Dar es Salaam.
